An Overview of Prohibited Items

Flying in an airplane is a very popular mode of transportation. Thisinvolves having a bunch of people in a small space far removed from most of other civilization for a significant amount of time, depending on the flight it can definitely be a lot longer or shorter. A big part of ensuring that this flight and mode of transportation does go smoothly will be contingent on the airline having a few parameters that must be followed by all means so that there is a sense of rules being upheld in the sky. There are certain items that are almost always prohibited from being on planes, regardless of which particular airline this is. Some of these items should go without saying, but everything must be annunciated so that a person knows what is most definitelynot allowed to be on an airplane by any means.

One thing that is prohibited is a gun. Obviously, no passenger can bring a gun abroad an airplane. There is one exception to this rule, in that the sky marshal is allowed to carry and gun and will that will only be used in certain situations.

There are also many airlines that will not allow peanuts on the plane because of some individual's severe allergies to peanuts. This is by no means a standard rule for all airlines and all planes, but there are nonetheless some airlines that uphold this rule to ensure that nothing could potentially go wrong in the sky.

A person is also not allowed to bring any sort of thing that is most discernibly a weapon or can definitely be used as a weapon. Some of the items that would fall under these parameters are box cutters, knives and razorblades. While most people will know about the knives and will not have any practical reason to carry a knife on a plane with them and most people know about the box cutter rule in a post 9-11 world, there are some people who will not think about the razor blade rule. This is because many people bring razors with them in their toiletries and will forget to move them into the checked luggage instead of the carry-on luggage.

There are also many sporting goods that a person cannot bring on a plane with them. For may of these things it is not only a matter of safety, but also a matter of both practicality and special allotment, as many of these items will take up a significant amount of room aboard a plane. A person cannot carry on a baseball bats, hockey sticks or other sporting sticks or pool sticks. These items are not only big and will not have room in the cabin with all of the people but can also pose a danger. They are, however, allowed to be checked on the plane.

Any person who is thinking about bringing an item on a plane that he or she might be unsure about whether it can be brought on a plane or not should simply look it up online and see what the airline that he or she is taking permits and prohibits.
